Soccer Kittens- Origin Story

This is my first post on my first blog of my first website.

I wasn’t sure what to write so I thought I should say why we’re here.

We put this site and blog together for one main reason; to help cats and pets.

I’ve always loved cats since I could remember. Through different jobs, relationships and relocations I’ve always had cats in my life.

About 15 years ago I started rescuing them off the streets and other bad situations and finding homes for them.

Not through any formal shelter or rescue process. Just on my own.

Later I started to get help with the assistance of organized groups and the ASPCA in New York.

One autumn about 10 years ago I found a mom and litter of kittens in my neighbor’s yard. The mom was thoroughly feral (undomesticated) and unfriendly.

We had her spayed by the ASPCA Trap neuter and return (TNR) program. And released her back we had trapped her.

The five kittens were about 3 months old and took and other few weeks to socialize.

We kept them in a spare room in the house with hardwood floors so we can keep a better eye on them as they got friendlier enough so we could adopt them out.

They had plenty of cat toys to play with and each other while we were not home.

One day I tossed them a ping-pong ball. Since kittens love anything that moves they all ran to it at once. Within a few swats they were chasing it around and batting it back and forth to each other for what seemed like hours. The hard wood floors really let the ball move. They kittens were in a soccer game. “Soccer Kittens”. I did make sure to take the ball away form them at night so we could sleep.

A few years later I quit my high pressure sales job in order to go back to school and started to get more involved in cat rescue. More cat rescue meant more kittens.

I bought a camera, built a stadium, made some uniforms, bought a video editing software program, a microphone and made a cute little movie.

So If you like cats use the resources on this site to help, or adopt, to donate, or to volunteer.
